Abstract
In this study, we observed that -cyano-4-hydroxycinnamate induced apoptosis via stimulating p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway. Moreover, -cyano-4-hydroxycinnamate enhanced chemosensitivity to metformin in vitro. Interestingly, inhibition of autophagy in cancer-associated fibroblasts improved the anti-proliferative efficacy of these two treatments and gemcitabine, the first-line chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. These data suggested that blocking autophagy in cancer-associated fibroblasts supports the anticancerous efficacy of chemotherapeutics.
